Chris Crites

I have been looking at Chis Crites work, he paints portraits on brown paper bags. He paints all kinds of people, the way he paints really shows the expression of the people. In his portfolio he has painted old people, famous singers, porn stars and my personal favouites convicted criminals. I like the way he captures the expressions of the people and the way they are feeling in the detail of the face and colours he uses. I like the use of the brown paper bag as the canvas, makes the image seem more gritty, down to earth and real putting the image on a common object.

Poster for my Professional Project

We where told to make a poster to explain our professional project in our first crit. Every one in the class has 3 minutes to explain their idea, so our posters have to be to the point and explain the subject of research clearly. My project is about recording and then illustrating peoples strangest encounters to make a book. To show this I have simply shown an image of a person being scared with the heading 'OMG' at top that I think describes peoples reactions when experiencing there encounters very well. I have illustrated the person on the poster and used the bold font Impact for the title and the footer 'Strange Encounters'. The poster is green with both the image and text having a yellow glow, these mix of colours, image and font has made this poster look very much like a 50's horror film poster.

I am making the all the visuals for our branding project for d&ad, these images will be on our presenting board to translate over our idea in a simple way. The images will help people visualise what we trying to build and create for the touring gallery around hospitals. The images combined with text combined will make the brand stronger, in all my images i plan to involve the brand logo for 'ArtBox' and the Partners logo.
