I have been illustrating five of the walking areas I want to map to put in my book. These areas are situated all along the Dorset coast; I have focused on this area in particular because I want to focus my book on this area. The Dorset coast is the nearest area for walking to me personally, giving the reason why I have chosen.
I have simply illustrated the area in outlines and touches of bold colour. I haven't over complicated these maps due to the maps being of a coastal and quite countryside area. There is no need for an over powering design. All we need to focus on is making maps more simple and approachable so that a younger audience can digest them.
I will be testing out some different ways I could produce these maps. As I want a variety of choices so when I make the decision, I know it’s the right one. At the moment I have only taken this approach, which is hand drawing with fine liner pen then uploading and editing on Illustrator. I would imagine these maps to also look attractive with only colour and no borders of add more texture to the grass est.
