Today we where put into groups of three, to explore on aspect of typography, our area was Type Styles. We had to create a poster showing all the different ways a type face can be changed. We decided as a group it was best to show these changes by getting a typeface that had a wide range of type styles available.. We chose Neo Sans as are type face, we wanted to show this in a visual way and how they are related. We came up with the concept the the font could be seen a s a family, which gave the idea of show the font family in a family tree.
When creating the family tree we decided to relate similar type faces, for example how, Bold and italic make Bold italic. This made sense, We made a simple family tree, with the title 'Neo Sans family tree.' Underneath we wanted to give a short description of what type styles meant, we purposely emphasise these points that where important, this is to give it context and meaning.
We where told to keep the poster to all shades of black and gray and then to choose one CMYK colour. We chose Cyan, so we could make the white writing stand out, and we thought it gave the most family tree feel.
