BBC radio host David Allen has been broadcasting on the airwaves of Southern England for more than 20 years. He often talks about his favourite walks on the radio and now he's taken a film crew with him to share the very best of his beloved Dorset.

David says, "I pass through some of Britain's most spectacular scenery meeting some fascinating people on the way. I hope after watching this DVD you'll feel inspired to do the walks too." http://posterous.com/javascripts/tiny_mce/plugins/pagebreak/img/trans.gifI borrowed this DVD for reference before I took my Hikers up to Hengisbury head for my organised walk. I thought this DVD would help me come a custom with area before I explored, as I hadn't really explored the area before.

On this DVD there was a particular walk where David takes us to on the walk from Christchurch to Hengistbury Head. A stroll along the river Stour takes David to the glorious Hengistbury Head where in years gone by smuggling was rife.

Whilst watching this DVD I was fascinated with the history of the coast and the people that David met on his journeys along Dorset. His passion for walking was very apparent through out this DVD and the love for the great British landscape was enlightening and refreshing. I found this DVD at times very engaging but found that the target audience was very apparent. This DVD really inspired me to walk but at times I found the filming very dated and at times boring.

I feeling its wrong for me to feel like this toward an educational DVD but I can help but think this could be revamped and made more inviting aimed at a younger audience.

We as a nation are getting fat and unhealthy. Could I bring the trend of Hiking back into fashion? a fun, free and healthy activity that requires no real skill or money.
