EMP - Change of display space

I took the last chance to run my displaying space to my tutors to get there opinion on the concept. I showed them the visual and explaination of the bird table and the hanging bird. It was said that the idea was fun and well considered but my tutors expressed their worries that it may send the wrong message to the viewer. As they thought that the bird table made them think of a confined bird to a garden or an older persons back garden. They thought the idea of the 'You Are Here' sticker on the floor was brilliant and I should just focus on that.

So for my new designs, that I have decided on, I have thought up three but one in particular stands out as a stronger visual and overall concept. Here are the visuals and further explanation:

[[posterous-content:pid___0]]My new and updated display space, with the book in mind I have created a plinth for my books display. I wanted to make my book ‘Walk with me’ have a presence in the show room.

So I have designed a concept, the plinth would be painted the same shade of green as the book. The green will be painted around the outer facesof the plinth and the top face would be painted white.I want the top face to be kept white, so when my book is placed on top it will stand out. [[posterous-content:pid___1]]This is my favourite idea out of the three shown.

In the visual provided you will see that I have placed the ‘You Are Here’ red circle on the floor. I have placed it on the floor in particular so that the viewer of my book would have to be stood on top of it to view the book. Leading from the red circle there will be a painted red dashed line making its way up to the book on the white face.

This interactive visual is meant to act as a human sized map to my book, this same method is used throughout my book.
